Welcome to the Emory University Symphony Orchestra!
The EUSO will hold Fall 2020 rehearsals and performances online.
This decision is in accordance with policies and guidance from Emory University, Emory Healthcare, and the CDC. We are excited to announce that the EUSO will still be broadcasting virtual orchestra performances online – while pursuing a richly detailed orchestral educational experience for students virtually.
The EUSO will be presenting a variety of virtual orchestra works this fall cycle including:
Vivaldi, “Winter” from The Four Seasons with Jessica Wu (Vega Quartet, Emory University) as soloist
Bizet, L‘Arlésienne Suite No. 2
Copland, Fanfare for the Common Man
Bruckner, Symphony No. 4 (movement 1)
Shostakovich, Symphony No. 1 (movement 2)
Vivaldi, Concerto RV 583 with Elizabeth Tiscione (Principal Oboe, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra)
We will also be hosting a variety of masterclasses on performance and orchestral topics, with our guests to include:
David Grossman, Bass, New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra
Jacob Nissly, Principal Percussion, San Francisco Symphony Orchestra
Guy Piddington II, Trumpet, San Francisco Symphony Orchestra
David Coucheron, Concertmaster, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra
Guang Wang, Cello, Vega Quartet
Jennifer Barlament, Executive Director, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra
Yinzi Kong, Viola, Vega Quartet
Timothy Higgins, Principal Trombone, San Francisco Symphony Orchestra
As we prepare to return to the stage with in-person rehearsals and performances, these activities present our students and audiences with diverse ways to engage with great repertoire, renowned artists, and our communities.
